Apple Pie Cake

Ingredients
  • ½ cup shortening or 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 ½ cups peeled, cored, diced apples
  • Whipped cream.
Instructions
  1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease a nine-inch pie plate.
  3. Cream together the shortening or butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg.
  5. Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt and add them to the butter and sugar mixture, incorporating them well.
  6. Fold in the walnuts and apples, and spread mixture in the pie plate.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes or until a tester inserted comes out clean.
  8. Serve topped with whipped cream.
